Gary Morton graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1977 and the University of Guelph in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in agriculture. From 1979 -1991 he was general manager a greenhouse/garden centre/ landscaping operation in Winnipeg. In 1991 returned to Nova Scotia and worked as a consultant until 1996 when he took a Sr. Farm Business Management Specialist position with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing in the Annapolis Valley. In 2000 he left the government and went back to business management consulting and has operated Morton Horticultural Associates ever since. Gary is also a partner with his brother Jeff in a native plant greenhouse nursery business M2 Horticulture Inc. based in Truro Nova Scotia.

Gary is an emerging authority, author and speaker in the field of value adding agricultural products and services. He’s the co-author of 2 best selling CFBMC books; Building Added Value through Farm Diversification, and Farm Business Planning: Understanding, Preparing and Using! He is currently working on a new book focusing on developing your Value Added Skills. He is the created of the Value Plus, Quest for New Farm Value Workshop, and regularly speaks on value adding across Canada. He is a past co-chair of the Nova Scotia Farm Management Institute, a Past President of Landscape Manitoba and a past director of the CFBMC. Gary has a passion for value adding and his goal is to help farm business find and create new value from what they already have and do on the farm.
