Hugh Maynard is a consulting specialist and owner of Qu’anglo Communications & Consulting, an enterprise specializing in communications, strategic planning and development initiatives for the agricultural sector and for rural communities.

A graduate in farm management from Macdonald College, McGill University, he worked previously as the Executive Director of the Quebec Farmers' Association and Managing Editor of the Quebec Farmers' Advocate, the QFA's monthly newspaper. He has carried out numerous research and evaluation projects in the agricultural sector including for Farm Management Canada, the Canadian Agricultural Human Resources Council, the Canadian Sheep Federation, Agriculture & Agri-food Canada and the Agricultural Institute of Canada.

He was the agricultural commentator on the “Farm Panel” for CBC-Montreal's Radio Noon program for 22 years, is a contributor to Farm Credit Canada’s “AgriSuccess” magazine, Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Farm Writer's Federation (CFWF), and Global Manager for the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ).

Hugh represented Canada as part of a 5-country delegation from LEAD International (Leadership in Environment and Development) at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in April 2000. He has acted as a judge in numerous awards competitions, including for Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer program, and the Ontario Community Newspaper Association (farm stories). He also has traveled extensively in his career, including to the former Soviet Union (Kiev and Moscow), Europe, Central America, Brazil, Western Africa, South Africa, China, South Korea and New Zealand.
